Mexico Advocacy Agenda of People Living with NCDs
The Mexico Advocacy Agenda of People Living with NCDs is a vital advocacy tool that amplifies the voices of individuals affected by non-communicable diseases in Mexico. Developed through national consultations, it calls for stronger prevention, treatment, and meaningful involvement in shaping health policies.
The Mexico Advocacy Agenda of People Living with NCDs was developed through a series of consultations and community conversations, engaging over 150 people living with NCDs and care partners.
Informed by the Our Views, Our Voices initiative, Mexico Salud-Hable gathered insights throughout 2018, fostering dialogue on the challenges faced by people with NCDs and their vision for a stronger health response. In 2019, a National Meeting convened over 50 people living with NCDs, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health and PAHO/WHO, to finalize the Agenda. It focuses on four key action areas: Prevention; Treatment, Care, and Support; Human Rights and Social Justice; and Meaningful Involvement. Since its launch, the Agenda has shaped national advocacy efforts, influencing Mexico’s National Development and Health Plans (2019-2024) and informing civil society recommendations on alcohol control and public health policies.
