NCDA Strategy 2021-2026
At the NCD Alliance, we believe in a world where everyone can live a healthy and fulfilling life — free from the preventable suffering, stigma, and loss caused by noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Our 2021–2026 strategy sets out a bold, people-centred agenda to turn that vision into reality.
Driving Change, Leaving No One Behind
Our mission is to unite civil society and drive global and local action on NCD prevention and care — ensuring that no one is left behind. This means confronting the root causes of NCDs, transforming health systems, closing gaps in access and equity, and building strong, resilient communities.
Four Impact Goals at the Heart of Our Work
By 2026, our efforts focus on achieving meaningful progress across four interconnected areas:
- Prevention: Creating healthier environments and societies that reduce exposure to risk factors.
- Care: Securing universal access to timely, affordable, and quality treatment and care.
- Financing: Mobilising the financial and human resources needed to deliver on NCD commitments.
- Community Engagement: Elevating the voices and leadership of civil society and people living with NCDs.
How We Get There: Strategic Enablers
To drive this change, we invest in four powerful enablers:
Advocacy & Accountability, Capacity Development, Knowledge Sharing, and Strategic Partnerships. These pillars ensure that our network is equipped, connected, and influential at all levels.
The Outcomes We’re Working Towards
Our strategy is aligned with global goals. We aim to:
- Reduce premature mortality from NCDs by 25% by 2025 (WHO target)
- Reduce it by 33% by 2030 and promote mental health and wellbeing (SDG target 3.4)
Guided by Our Values
Everything we do is grounded in our core values:
People-centred action | Collaboration | Equity, diversity and inclusion | Accountability | Independence | Excellence and results-driven approaches
Strengthening Ourselves to Strengthen the Movement
Internally, we are committed to strengthening our own foundations — through good governance, inclusive membership, a thriving team culture, robust operations, and financial sustainability — so we can continue to serve as a trusted leader in the global NCD movement.
